Cucumber and Onion Salad.

Be on time! Food is delicious and will be gone fast!

If you (or your friend/family) are vegetarian, please reply to this email at wenjune.chen@gmail.com
and we will prepare something for you. Thanks!

Discussion: Facing the Giant
What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your life? Have you been in a very situation that seems to be difficult but at the same time might serve as a turning point of your life? This Friday join us for a discussion that explores the “giants” that we face and the weapon that everybody can use to fight and win. We are going to study the story of two men of faith: Joshua and Caleb :)

Opening Question:
1. Who or what are the “Giants” in your life keeping you from experiencing success?

If you’d like to read the story before joining our meeting, please read the story in the bible

Dinner & Discussion this Friday (Sep 19)

September 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Hello friend,
How are you?
After hurricane Ike barely touched our city, the cold front came and has given us a surprise of early autumn. It has been the 4th week into the Fall semester since the school began, and we hope you’ve gotten more used to the pace of your life on campus and remember to take good care of yourself as the season changes.

Again our fellowship will meet at Wesley House (22o2 Nueces St), 6:30~8:30pm this coming Friday. Please join us for the home-made dinner and dessert as well as our first discussion for this semester: Leaving Your comfort Zone (just as you have chosen to come to US for your advanced study!):

Dinner begins at 6:30pm
WenRong will be cooking the group this Friday. Here is the menu:
Lemon thyme chicken
Parfalle with sausage & cauliflower

Salad: Nectarine with mixed greens
Dessert: Orange Cranberry Cake

Be on time! Food is delicious and will be gone fast!
Come early and make sure you can taste the dish while it’s still hot and fresh :)
If you are running late, please call WenRong at 300-7565 so we can save a plate for you!
If you (or your friend/family) are vegetarian, please reply to this email at wenjune.chen@gmail.com
and we will prepare something for you. Thanks!

Discussion: Leaving your comfort zone
Leaving our own comfort zone takes extra courage and faith, but the good news is we are not the first one experiencing this in the whole human history :) Join us for this week’s discussion and explore the idea of stepping out of someone’s familiar world and embarking on a journey to an unknown place. We will be looking into the biblical story of Abraham, the Father of Faith to the people of Israel. How he faced the most important decision of his life, the mistake he made, and the lesson he learned through the process might bring inspiration to you!

Opening Question:
1. What have been the biggest decision you have to make in your life?
2. Why have you left where you were and come to US to study?

If you’d like to read the story before joining our meeting, click the following link for the text:

Look forward to seeing you this Friday at Wesley House. ^_^

International Pot Luck Dinner this Friday (9/12)

September 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Hello, everyone!

We enjoyed getting to see everybody last Friday for the Scavenger Hunt!  We hope that you will join us again this Friday for an International Pot Luck Dinner.  A “Pot Luck Dinner” is a dinner where each person brings some food to share with others.  When it is time to eat, everyone gets to taste a small amount of each food.

We will begin eating dinner at 6:30 p.m.  Here’s what you can do to help out:

1)  Bring some food to share with the group. You don’t need to cook for everyone — just bring enough for 3-4 people.  You can make something homemade or bring from a favorite restaurant.  And if you’re not able to bring food, don’t worry!  Please come join us anyway!

2)  Bring traditional clothing or another traditional object from your country. After dinner, we’ll let everyone share about the traditions from their country.

3)  Bring a friend!

We will meet at the Wesley House in the West Campus area.

The address is 2202 Nueces St. (Intersection of 22nd St. & Nueces St.) Here is the link to Google map:

We hope to see you on Friday!  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Courtney at ckousley@pobox.com.
